Justice Go receives Law Society of Ontario Honorary LLD

The Law Society of Ontario conferred an honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD), honoris causa, on CCIAWJ Board member Justice Avvy Yao‑Yao Go at its March 2, 2026 Call to the Bar ceremony in Toronto.

The Law Society’s honorary doctorate recognizes Justice Go’s exceptional contributions to advancing social justice, equality, and the rule of law. Called to the bar in 1991, Justice Go devoted much of her career to advocating for marginalized communities and challenging systemic racism and discrimination within Canada’s legal system. A widely respected leader in the profession, she also made history in 2021 as the first Chinese Canadian appointed to the Federal Court of Canada.

The CCIAWJ congratulates our colleague on receiving this well-deserved honor.
