International Judicial Mentoring Programme – Call for Participants
The Canadian Chapter of the International Association of Women Judges (CCIAWJ) is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for members to participate in the International Judicial Mentoring Programme, which is expanding to Canada this fall through the National Judicial Institute (NJI).
CCIAWJ has been offered 10 places in the program, which will run from September 2026 to March 2027. Participating judges will each be paired with a judge from another country, creating a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful professional dialogue, exchange perspectives, and develop international judicial connections.
About the Program
The International Judicial Mentoring Programme is designed to foster collegiality and learning among judges from different jurisdictions around the world. Details about the program can be found in the program PDF.
Recognizing the significant demands on judicial schedules, the program is intentionally flexible. While participants typically connect through a monthly videoconference, mentoring partners determine for themselves:
- How they will meet;
- When they will meet; and
- The length and format of their meetings.
The program encourages discussions on topics of mutual interest and provides an opportunity to learn about different legal systems, court processes, and judicial experiences.
Resource Materials
Resource materials referenced in the program information are currently being reviewed and updated. These materials will be circulated to participating judges and program leads before the program begins in September 2026.
The readings are provided as optional reference materials only. There is no expectation that participants read all—or any—of the materials. They are intended to support and enrich mentoring conversations. Judges may also choose to share materials relating to their own court processes or agree on resources of mutual interest.
Please note that mentoring partners may be judges of any gender.
How to Apply
CCIAWJ members who are interested in participating are invited to contact CCIAWJ President Gisele Miller at: gisele.miller@scj-csj.ca
Important
The available places will be allocated to the first 10 CCIAWJ members who respond.
We encourage interested members to express their interest as soon as possible.
