Excitement, Generosity and Great Finds: Silent Auction a Conference Highlight
Thank you to everyone who donated items for the silent auction at the CCIAWJ conference in Moncton in June 2026! Together we raised $5,441.89 for the CCIAWJ’s amazing projects, such as scholarships, Law School Evenings with Women Judges and support for our partner Afghan judges living in Canada.
Special mention goes out to the Newfoundland women judges who donated 16 items to the auction that raised a total of $1,260. Many of them could not make it to the conference but still sent generous donations of East Coast artwork and other treasures. A very special mention goes to Justice Frankie Wood of Kitchener, Ontario, who created a gorgeous stained glass quilt with caricatures of women judges on the reverse side of the quilt. Maggie Wiebe of Manitoba was the lucky bidder who went home with the one-of-a-kind handmade quilt.
It is time to start planning for the 2027 silent auction at the IAWJ conference in Quebec City. We are expecting approximately 900 judges from across the world, and our beautiful country will take centre stage for this amazing event. Silent auction items that are quintessentially Canadian will be in high demand – we are confident that everyone will come up with some wonderful ideas for donations to next year’s silent auction.
