The CCIAWJ is pleased to congratulate our former Board member and colleague Krista MacKay on her appointment as Chief Judge of the Provincial Court of Prince Edward Island.

Krista served on the CCIAWJ Board from 2021 until 2025. She was an active member of the Board who, among other things, participated in organizing conference events and collaborated with the legal community on issues related to the retention of women in the practice of law as a co-chair of the Projects Committee.

Krista was appointed to the Provincial Court of Prince Edward Island in 2020. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Krista worked in private practice from 1996 to 2015 and then joined the public sector at Legal Aid, where she practiced both family and criminal law. She also held the position of Prothonotary and Registrar of the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island.

Krista’s appointment was announced on December 2, 2025. We are delighted to recognize her well-deserved achievement.
