Renee Pomerance Appointed to Court of Appeal

The CCIAWJ is pleased to congratulate our long-time Board member and colleague Renee Pomerance on her appointment to the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Renee served on the CCIAWJ Board from 2016 to 2024, and was involved in initiatives including the Speaker’s Bureau and the Projects Committee. She was also one of the organizers of the CCIAWJ’s national roundtables on the retention of women in the legal profession.

Renee was appointed to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in 2006. She was appointed as the Regional Senior Justice for the Southwest Region in October 2023. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Renee practiced at the Crown Law Office – Criminal with the Ministry of the Attorney General in Ontario. Her practice expertise was in the areas of criminal law and constitutional law. Following her appointment to the bench, Renee was involved in judicial education programming.

Renee’s appointment was announced on July 24, 2024. We know that she will be an excellent addition to the Ontario Court of Appeal and send her our best wishes as she embarks on this new and exciting phase of her career.
